IPRO 315 — Improving Drive Through Experience & Operation Economics via Wireless & Mobile Technologies
The group had its triumphs and its obstacles. The group started off coding with the Android platform but this proved to be problematic because there were a other platforms to be considered in the project for example the Apple based iPad. However the group overcame this problem by using PhoneGap. PhoneGap is an open-source mobile development framework. It enables users to build applications for mobile devices using JavaScript, HTML5 instead of often less known languages such as Objective C.One disadvantage is that hybrid applications do not have full access to the device application programming interface(API).
The group first tried to get a ConnectBlue OBS 414 with iPhone/iOS accessory module however the group however due to the many bureaucracies the Apple Licensing fell through because the Non Disclosure Agreement Form Apple gave would not have allowed us to discuss our work at the end of semester IPRO presentation. However a Bluetooth module (OBS 411) came in handy because it is compatible with Android.
