Network Lab

Network Lab is divided in 6 groups. Each Group consists of:

4 Dell Poweredge 850

3 Cisco 3600 Series Router

8 port Hub

1 Patch Panel

1 KVM Switch

1 Console

Cat 6 Patch Cables

Dell Poweredge 850 workstations are installed with Cent OS 4 operating system.

Cent OS environment allows students to learn basic UNIX commands and helps them to run the tools to simulate the network traffic generated by setting up different topology using Router, Workstations and Hub.

Patch cables one end is terminated on the patch panel and other end is connected to the Workstations, Router and Hub. Students have access to the front side patch panel to generate various topology.

sudo access granted to each user to execute privileged commands.

Software Tools Used:

Gcomm to connect to Cisco Router on Serial Port

Network Traffic Generator using trafserver and trafclient

tcpdump, snoop, ethereal
