Wednesday, December 11, 2019

Isaac Hodgins and Jeff Rath

Shive-Hattery

About the Topic

Electrical substations are not only the hub for converting and distributing power, but also assist with consolidating and updating power control. With electrical power providers being faced with increasing demands that often push the limits of existing infrastructure, updates and expansions in both urban and rural settings are becoming increasingly necessary.

Discussed in this presentation will be the many aspects and challenges of developing sites for electrical substations. Considerations and requirements of multiple disciplines are outlined and detailed using real-life construction projects to highlight various project sizes and complexities. From site selection and due diligence procedures to final design and construction, the diverse facets of substation development are discussed in a detailed yet straightforward and easily understood manner.
