About the Topic

Wiring in Hazardous Locations is one of the most misunderstood areas of the Code. This talk will try to shed some light on the various Code requirements and methods that may be required.

The following terms are related to electrical requirements in hazardous locations as covered in Articles 500-516 of the National Electrical Code:

About the Speaker

Dan Caddigan is a registered Professional Engineer in the State of Illinois and currently holds the position of Senior Engineer for Meade Electric in the Chicago area. Dan has been teaching electrical code courses for Index Publishing for the last twenty five years and for Electric Association for the last seventeen years. Dan has held previous positions as an Electrical Inspector in the City of Chicago for six years and as the Supervisor of Electrical Inspectors for one year. Dan had also worked extensively as part of the Electrical Code Working Group in the City of Chicago, which was responsible for proposing the 2000 Chicago Electrical Code.

You can reach the 35th floor of 55 East Monroe Street from the Middle (Wabash Street entrance) elevator bank only.

Please bring your lunch with you. If you would like to purchase lunch, then the Under 55 dining room, in the basement on the North end of the building, is recommended.

Take the elevator to 35 and sign in with the Sargent & Lundy Receptionist. Please note that food is permitted in the Meeting Room, but you are exepected to remove your food containers before you leave.

As you sign in, you may request a Discount Parking coupon. When you depart, you must pay for parking at the Automated Pay Station in the Parking Garage elevator lobby on the floor where you parked. First insert the parking ticket, then insert the discount coupon, then make payment. If you pay at the Garage Exit, then the discount is NOT available. With the discount, parking is $18, without $40.

Continuing Education

IEEE technical meetings may be acceptable as continuing education where required for maintenance of professional engineering licensure. Refer to the individual state's requirements for details. A receipt for one Professional Development Hour (PDH) will be provided.
