The presentation will cover photovoltaic (solar cell) technology as it applies to grid-connected distributed electricity generation. Utility interconnection requirements for installations in the ComEd service territory (northern Illinois area) and "net metering" issues will be discussed. The program will also include an overview of some of the photovoltaic systems installed in the Chicago area including the Millennium Park Exelon Pavilions and the system currently under construction at the Social Security building in Chicago.
Maryl Freestone serves as the program manager for the Wind and Photovoltaic Program at ComEd. In addition, she works with large commercial and industrial customers, and within ComEd, on projects related to energy use analysis and energy efficiency. Maryl has degrees in Mechanical Engineering from Northern Illinois University (B.S.) and the University of Illinois at Chicago (M.S.).
